Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. Deadline 4PM Friday to help RCSO with donations to tornado victims

Sheriff Robert Arnold reminds local residents that donations are being accepted up until 4:00 o'clock Friday afternoon (2/3/2012) for tornado victims near Birmingham, Alabama. Explorer Post 106 is collecting non-perishable food, emergency supplies and other items at the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office at 940 New Salem Highway.

Sergeant Mike House of Alabama's Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said residents need cleaning supplies, mops, brooms, buckets, garbage bags, diapers, socks, underwear, plates, cups and non-perishable food.

Rutheford County Sheriffs Corporal Scot Appleton, who is an Explorers’ co-advisor, said he expects to fill a 26-foot box trailer with supplies. Advisors and Explorers expect to deliver the items to Birmingham residents Saturday.
