Evidently someone is impersonating a Sheriff’s Deputy in Rutherford County, according to a local disabled veteran.

The victim was awoken by a knock on his apartment door several days ago and when he went to answer the knock, he was met by a man who identified himself as a Rutherford County Sheriff’s Deputy. The only problem is that the subject had a gold oval badge as opposed to a star, which is what the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office uses.  The 48-year old “vet” reported that the individual had what appeared to be a Glock handgun on his hip when he ordered him to sign a paper.

Police have several questions to ask the individual who told the victim he was a deputy. One of those questions will likely deal with the paper the subject wanted the victim to sign. When the victim asked the unknown culprit what he was supposed to sign he told Murfreesboro Officers the man stated, “Sign it and I will tell you what it is.” When the victim asked about the paper a second time, the man was said to have placed his hand on his gun while ordering him a second time to sign the paper.

In fear, the victim told police he signed the paper. As the man was leaving the victim stated, “You strong armed me into signing the paper.” The victim supposedly responded, “It got the job done didn’t it?” Police apparently have a possible suspect named and the subject is said to be 37-years of age, although he has not been caught. The description of offense is labeled as an aggravated assault.
