Metro Sex Crimes detectives are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the man who digitally raped a female resident of Brentridge Apartments in South Nashville after entering her apartment through an unlocked door late Sunday night.

The 24-year-old victim reported that her assailant appeared in her bedroom at 10:55 p.m., about a minute after her boyfriend left to go to the laundry room a few buildings away. This indicates the man may have been watching the goings on at her apartment building. The victim began screaming as the man began the assault. She said he placed his hand over her mouth, told her to be quiet and quickly fled. Efforts by a police dog to track the suspect were unsuccessful.

The assailant is described as being of Hispanic descent, approximately 5'7" tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds. He was wearing a gray T-shirt, shorts and white cotton gloves. The victim met with a TBI sketch artist on Wednesday to assist in the production of a likeness of the suspect. Anyone with information about this individual is asked to contact the police department's Sex Crimes Unit at 615-862-7540 or Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.

Detectives are investigating whether this assault is related to a similar one that occurred on the morning of April 20th at Brandywine Apartments off Edmondson Pike. In that case, the suspect, wearing dark clothes and a dark hoodie, appeared in the victim's bedroom at 5:30 a.m., put his hand over her mouth and digitally raped her. The victim screamed and he fled. The victim reported what happened to the police department a few hours later.

Residents of apartment complexes are urged to always be aware of their surroundings as they come and go. They are urged to contact the police department immediately at 615-862-8600 if they see anything suspicious or out of the ordinary.
