Evans explained that the dump truck collided into the rear of a white GMC pick-up. The dump truck pushed the small pick-up truck into two other vehicles: a Chevy van driven by Larry Russell, causing it to hit a Nissan Altima driven by Brenda Johnson.

A fifth vehicle, a Nissan Frontier driven by Edward Baskin, was north bound on Memorial. While the SUV was turning left, it was struck by debris and incurred minimal damage.

Murfreesboro's William Hall was transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital by Rutherford County EMS and was later pronounced deceased. Ms. Johnson was transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital with minor injuries.

Murfreesboro Police Department's FACT team (Fatal Accident Crash Team) is investigating the crash.
