Early Saturday Morning Swift Water Rescue Near Downtown

Shortly before 3:30 Saturday morning (1/14/2012), Murfreesboro Police received a 911 call of a vehicle that had gone into Overall Creek, near Northwest Broad and West Main Street. Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue did a swift water rescue. A flotation device was put around the victim, and he was put inside the boat where and taken to a waiting ambulance. Paramedics from the Rutherofrd County Emergency Medical Services wrapped him in blankets to reduce the risk of hypothermia. The frigid waters made it necessary for the rescue to be carried out quickly. He was rushed to the ER at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
