Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. Early Voting Has Begun

Early voting in Rutherford County has begun. This is the presidential primary that is now underway. In Rutherford County government there are two primary elections taking place on March 6^th. The elections are for the Assessor of Property and Road Superintendent. In the race for Assessor of Property, incumbent republican Bill Boner is running for re-election. Boner is running against republicans William C. Austin and Lance Jenkins. Also in the running is democrat Rob Mitchell.

In the race for road superintendent, incumbent Mike Williams has decided not to seek re-election. Running in that race are republicans Robert Alsup, Greg Brooks, Buddy Gambill, Jr. and Joe Frank Jernigan. Running as a democrat is B.J. Smotherman.

The election in the county will be on March 6^th. Early voting will take today through the 28^th.
