Early Voting Hours Could be Extended

Later this month, the Rutherford County Election Commission will consider a proposal to keep early voting locations open a little later. The proposal would keep the polling locations open until 7pm, at least once a week, during early voting. With only a small fraction of registered voters actually going to the polls, the extended hours target those who can't get off work to vote by the typical 5pm closing time. Early voting for the November election begins October 17th and runs through November 1st. The proposal will be considered at the September 10th meeting of the election commission, which takes place at 5pm at their offices on the square. In addition to the presidential election, voters will decide several federal, state and local races. Those include municipal elections in Eagleville, La Vergne and Smyrna. WGNS will have complete coverage of Vote 2012 after the polls close November 6th, combining the resources of the Tennessee Radio Network and ABC News to give you the whole picture. As always, we'll be live at the Rutherford County Election Commission offices to bring you up to the minute results as they happen.
