The Rutherford County Farmer's Market has free classes that begin at 9 a.m. in the Lane Agri-Park Community Center each Tuesday and Friday while the market is open. The center is located at 315 John R. Rice Blvd.
This week's classes:
Seasonal Eating is the topic on Tuesday, June 24. It will be presented by Sidney Bounsaveth, a chef from Thai Pattaya. Sidney will have walked through the Market and purchased fresh vegetables that are available this week and then give a cooking demo using them. The class starts at 9 a.m. at the Lane Agri-Park Community Center during Farmer's Market.
On Friday, June 27, Rutherford County Extension Agent Mitchell Mote will discuss "Organic Pest Control for Lawn and Landscapes." This class starts at 9 a.m. as well. Mitchell will be presenting alternatives to synthetic products and setting realistic expectations of use. "One thing people must realize is that the control may be organic, but it is still a toxic pesticide. So we'll look at possibilities that are out there," said Mitchell.
If you need additional info on these or other classes, please reach Janie J. Becker, Extension Agent, 615-898-7710.
