An accident involving a man on a scooter who was struck by a car is being investigated by Murfreesboro Police. The wreck occurred on Sunday July 26, 2015 at 1:34 in the morning at Mercury Blvd. and Middle Tennessee Blvd.
Darren Farr was riding a Piaggio MP3 Scooter when he was struck by a 2003 BMW 525i driven by Jesse Zoller. Sgt. Kyle Evans with the Murfreesboro Police Department told WGNS, "Mr. Farr was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital with serious injuries. Although it's not a fatality, due to the seriousness of the injuries and the evidence of intoxication, the Fatal Accident Crash Team is investigating the crash."
Zoller, who is 31 years of age, was charged with Vehicular Assault, DUI and Driving on a Suspended License.
Evidently Zoller had a suspended license for failing to have proof of insurance during a past run in with the law. It is not known if he currently has insurance to help cover the cost of medical expenses for the man who was riding the scooter that is now at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
The case remains under investigation.
