Fatal Accident on S. Rutherford Blvd. Friday

PrintThe Murfreesboro Police Department Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) is currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 1:32 a.m. Friday morning on South Rutherford Blvd. near South Church Street.
After a preliminary investigation, FACT investigators believe that a Jeep Cherokee driven by James Blake Summar (115 Tipperary Drive LaVergne, TN 7-3-91) crossed the center yellow lines and struck a Chevrolet truck traveling North on S. Rutherford Blvd. head-on. The second vehicle was driven by Roger Simmons (413 Murfreesboro Highway Woodbury, TN 12-27-53).
Summar was transported to MTMC by Rutherford County EMS where he was pronounced dead. Simmons was transported to Vanderbilt University Hospital by LifeFlight with serious injuries.
Blood samples from both drivers were submitted to the TBI for analysis.
