The father of a toddler, who was shot in March, was indicted by the April term of the Coffee County Grand Jury.

Martin Jackson Anderson, 20, of A Street Hillsboro was indicted on charges of two counts of aggravated child abuse of children under 8-years-old and two counts of reckless endangerment by the April term of the grand jury.

Anderson's 18-month-old son was shot March 3 in the head by his 3-year-old brother at Anderson's home on A Street in Hillsboro.

According to Coffee County Sheriff's Investigative Sgt. Danny Ferrell, the 18-month old child was shot one time in the head by his 3-year-old brother with a .25 caliber handgun. The child was transported to Manchester Medical Center and then transferred by Coffee County EMS to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

The indictments allege that Anderson treated the two boys in "an act of abuse resulting in serious bodily injury" and "imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury being committed with a deadly weapon."

Anderson was booked into the Coffee County Jail and released after posting a $10,000 bond. He was arraigned in Coffee County Circuit Court Wednesday, April 22.
After the shooting incident, the children were placed in the custody of the Department of Children Services. But they have since been placed in the custody of their grandparents.
