A simple fender bender in the area of the Murfreesboro Athletic Club on Memorial Boulevard led to one motorist chasing down the other motorist.

The driver who called the police told officers his Toyota Camry was rear-ended by a white Ford F-150 on Monday. After the wreck, the truck turned into a parking lot and appeared to be fleeing the scene. The driver of the Toyota gave chase and started honking his horn. The driver of the truck eventually stopped.

The driver of the Toyota spoke to the subject in the Ford and asked to see his license. The individual then gave him another form of ID. The accident victim brought up the idea of bringing police into the matter and the man grabbed his ID, jumped in his truck and left.

The good news is that the victim was able to write down the culprits license plate number. He was also able to remember the mans’ name from the ID. The information was turned over to police. Police say the license plate returned to a Ford Escort, not a Ford F-150. However, the name matched.

Now for the bad news… the driver of the F-150 has not been caught. The address that police tracked down is located in Smyrna on Jefferson Pike. Smyrna Police paid a visit to the residence in question, but no contact was made with anyone at the home.

The "Leaving the scene of a property damage" case remains open.
