With the race about a week away, registration is still open for the 9th Annual Fenton Payne and Fred 5K and Kids 1 Mile Fun Run at 7:00 o'clock Saturday morning, August 18th. It begins at MTSU and takes runners through historic downtown Murfreesboro. The Kids Fun Run is at 8AM and is open to children 12 years old and under. It will be held inside the football stadium, and the top three Fun Run participants will receive trophies. Registration and additional information can be found at www.fpfrun.com.

Online registration for the 5K race is $35 or $25 for high school track team members, and all proceeds from the 5K race benefit the Blue Raider Athletic Association (BRAA) and the Primary Care & Hope Clinic. Registration for the Kids 1 Mile Fun Run is $25 and benefits local nonprofit Special Kids.

“Special Kids is so thankful to be partnering with the Fenton Payne and Fred Race,” said Ginger Warf, Director of Marketing. “We’re looking forward to seeing children in the community running for our children at Special Kids and to cheering on the runners who are in the 5K to help two other great local organizations.”

The annual Fenton Payne and Fred race is the headlining event for Friends of Fenton Payne and Fred, a 501(c)(3) non-profit honoring Dr. Fenton Payne Hardison and Dr. Fred R. Lovelace. Proceeds from the 5K run/walk will benefit both the Blue Raider Athletic Association to support athletic programs and scholarships for MTSU athletes and the Primary Care & Hope Clinic to bolster healthcare for the uninsured in the community. Proceeds from the Mile Fun Run will benefit Special Kids to help children with special needs. As registration fees, non-cash donations, and volunteers cover event costs, every sponsorship dollar is donated directly to the charitable organizations.
