A calm breeze and temps in the mid 70s brought a record turnout to the final Friday Night Live for the season on the historic Murfreesboro square. The band, Entice, kept the crowd moving all night. A special thank you to Main Street Murfreesboro/Rutherford County for making this popular summer event possible.

One Main Street board member commented, "I was afraid the high school football games would hurt the turnout." Obviously, Murfreesboro's population has grown enough for there to be multiple major events at the same time, and all be successful.

The music of Entice kept the dance area full all night, and that's unusual for one of these events. Both the audience and the dancers showed a healthy mix of all generations.

During intermission, Main Street's Executive Director Kathleen Herzog (left photo) went on stage and personally thanked everyone who had a hand in the Friday Night Live series as well as the work of this renewal organization.

Main Street continues to make both visual improvements in the historic district, as well as helping the businesses to work together in ways that improve traffic.

One of their projects this year was to install a WiFi service that can be used at no charge by visitors to the Murfreesboro square.

Another popular activity created by the group is the Saturday Market, which continues on Saturday mornings, 8:00AM to noon, now through October.

In addition to a broad cross-section of this community, "man's best friend" was also found in abundance on a leash during the "Friday Night Live" concert.  (above, right photo)

All of the restaurants, lounges, and many retailers were open special hours and offered discounts to patrons who were enjoying the fantastic weather.  The band really put on a show, and at one point the singer and sax player grabbed a wireless mic and played while strolling through the audience.

It was such a great night, that as the show wound down--the crowd was still strong. A woman walking through the crowd was heard saying, "I'm so happy we moved here. This is a perfect community."

Obviously, others agreed. After all, this is the "Heart of Tennessee".
