Tennessee is among the 40 states reporting a widespread or epidemic flu outbreak. In fact, the TheraFlu Flu Tracker shows the Nashville-Murfreesboro-Franklin MSA is reporting eight-to-14-percent of the population is affected with the flu. That puts the area in a widespread flu area. Health officials say the only way to protect yourself from the flu is to get the vaccine. They suggest anyone looking for a flu shot should check with their primary care physician, as well as pharmacies and walk-in clinics. For those who may think it's too late to get a shot, health officials say it's not. Flu season goes until April.
