Local police are now investigating two purse snatchings that have been reported in recent days. The first incident occurred as a woman was loading her groceries into her car in the parking lot of Kroger on Memorial Boulevard. In that case the victim was pushed to the ground and only slightly injured.

In the second case, a 25-year old mother had just loaded her child into the rear passenger side of the car when an unknown man approached her from behind. The incident occurred in the parking lot of PetSmart off of Old Fort Parkway.  The female says the robber pulled a small handgun out and demanded she hand over her purse. The victim complied and was not injured.

After the culprit grabbed the victims purse he fled the scene on foot running towards the DoubleTree Hotel. The purse – minus any cash that was inside of it, was later discarded near the hotel. So far, an arrest has not been made and it has not been confirmed that the two cases are tide to one another.
