The owner of a small beauty salon in Murfreesboro called the police after a now ex-employee allegedly refunded around 20 clients.

Evidently, the 44 year old woman who once worked at the downtown hair salon refunded clients as retaliation to the local shop, according to the owner who filed the police incident report. The refunds added up to well over $2,000.

Police say the suspect drove past the salon while they were taking the report and when she saw the patrol cars, she quickly drove away. Officers have the address of the former employee, but so far the case has not been closed. After an investigation is conducted by detectives, the female could face fraud or possibly theft charges.

In Tennessee, one is guilty of "Theft of Property" if, with intent to deprive the owner of property, the person knowingly obtains or exercises control over the property without the owner's effective consent.

If theft charges are filed, it would be considered a Class "D" felony. According to Tennessee law, "Theft" includes embezzlement, false pretenses, fraudulent conversion, larceny, and receiving stolen property.

A Class "D" felony means that the punishment for the guilty party could include between two and twelve years in prison.
