Former Murfreesboro Resident and R&B Artist "Sweet Cliff" Passes Away

A well known R&B singer who once called Murfreesboro home in the 1960's passed away on September 7th in Knoxville and will be laid to rest this Saturday (9/17/16) in East Tennessee.

Clifford Curry, known as "Sweet Cliff," was 79 years old when he died. His friend and former band mate still lives in Murfreesboro. 75-Year old saxophonist Raymond Summerour told WGNS...

In the 1990's, Curry came back to Murfreesboro for a visit and was given a key to the city.

Again, R&B artist Sweet Clifford, dead at 79.

Clifford being a big UT fan, recorded many albums and singles, and one in particular for Pat Summit, "Pat Summit Dat Gunmit."

Clifford's billboard hit was "She Shot a Hole in My Soul" amongst other hits. Clifford traveled the world singing and writing music for many musicians. Clifford was known as the "King of Carolina Beach Music" and was inducted into the Beach Music Hall of Fame in 1995.
