Free flu shots will be available on Monday, December 17 at La Vergne Middle School. The Mobile Health Unit is providing the immunization from 7:00 – 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at 382 Stones River Road for the Free Flu Shot Clinic.

The shot clinic is offered on a first come, first served basis in partnership with the Rutherford County Health Department and Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Centers for Disease Control recommends anyone over six months old be vaccinated, particularly those considered to be at risk. At risk individuals are those who have certain medical conditions including asthma, diabetes, and chronic lung disease, pregnant women, and people 65 years and older. The CDC also states that it takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and provide protection against the flu, so with flu season already impacting Tennessee it is not too late to get the shot.

“We are so pleased that the Mobile Health Unit offers this service in La Vergne,” said Mayor Senna Mosley. “We encourage our residents to take advantage of the free shot so they can stay healthy now and throughout the remainder of the flu season.”
