The annual Back to School bash in Smyrna will take place NEXT SATURDAY on August 3rd. The free event is put together by the ALERT Community Development Corporation. They will give away 1,000 free backpacks to students filled with school supplies.

Carolyn Peebles , the event coordinator for ALERT told WGNS…

The free event will be at the Living Truth Christian Center located at 102 Ridley Street, one block over from Front Street in Smyrna. Peebles told us in addition to free school supplies, they will also be offering free health screenings for adults and children.

In the past three years, they have given away 3,700 free backpacks to area school children in Rutherford County.
