Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department's Districts 3 and 8, Engine 1, and Rescue 2 responded to a house fire at 1014 Gunnerson Avenue around 7:00 Friday night (8/8/2014).

Police and Fire Dispatch notified crews of the possibility of people trapped inside, but before the units arrived on scene, they were told all residents were out.

When they arrived on scene, they were informed that one of the residents re-entered the structure. Crews immediately entered the home, located the person inside, and brought them back out to safety.

The fire, located in the area of the stove, was quickly extinguished according to Shift Commander Dale Maynard. "The house was smoked up pretty good, but once the fire was located, it only took about 10 gallons of water to put it out," he said.

Fire damage was contained to the kitchen area, but there was smoke damage throughout the first floor of the two-story home.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident. The meter to the home was not pulled and none of the residents will be displaced.

The cause of the fire is unknown; however Maynard says it appears to be accidental.
