Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department's Engine 3 and Rescue 8 were called to a gas leak at Dill Lane.

Crews responded to a complaint of a strong smell of gas in the area around 12:30 Wednesday (10/26/16) afternoon. According to Captain Tony Lehew, a construction crew working on the new Ascend Credit Union building cut a gas line.

"The pressure release valve on South Rutherford experienced issues also and caused another gas leak in that area," said Lehew.

Murfreesboro Police Department units had to block traffic on East Main from Arnette to Rutherford Blvd for about two hours Wednesday. By 3:15, the problem was fixed and traffic was then opened back up.
