On June 5, 2015 Gang Unit detectives and COPS officers served a public nuisance order at 438 E. Castle Street. The house was nicknamed the "good time house" and was allegedly used for illegal drug sales, illegal gun sales, gambling, drunkenness, and as a safe haven for known gang members.

In March, 2015, detectives with the MPD Gang Unit served a search warrant at the residence and found at least 31 people inside along with evidence of criminal activity. Working with the Rutherford and Cannon County District Attorney's Office, Assistant District Attorney John Zimmerman and Detective Michael Levy requested that this residence be declared a public nuisance. Judge Royce Taylor agreed and issued an order, the first of its kind in Murfreesboro history, declaring the property a public nuisance and prohibiting anyone from entering the property until a hearing before the Court.

After serving the nuisance order, a locksmith was called to change the locks on the house to prevent entry and notices were posted warning visitors to leave the property or face contempt of court charges.

"We continue to send a strong message to criminals and gang members that we will not tolerate their contempt of the law and will hold law violators accountable" said MPD Chief Glenn Chrisman. Today's declaration is just one step toward sending that message and our efforts will continue to disrupt and stop criminal activity in our inner city neighborhoods.

No criminal charges have been filed at this point. The investigation is ongoing.
