The passenger in a car that was pulled over in the area of Bradyville Pike for having a broken taillight was arrested by Murfreesboro Police for possessing a gun. It is important to clarify that there is nothing illegal about possessing a gun; it does however become a crime when the person in possession of that gun is a convicted felon as was in this case.

46-Year old Scottie Woods was sitting in the backseat of the car and was asked to step out of the vehicle by police. When asked if he had anything illegal in his possession the report shows, “He admitted to having a loaded handgun in his waistband.” The officer who filed the report went on to document, “Mr. Woods also stated that he was a convicted felon.” To make matters worse, the handgun turned out to be stolen. A National Crime Information Center search showed the gun was stolen in Cannon County. The stolen gun was a Glock 23 - SRG 426.

As if the handgun issue was not enough, police also found a small bag of marijuana in the car. Because no one would claim the drugs, all three subjects in the car received a simple possession charge. We are told that Woods will appear in court this August.
