Murfreesboro Police are investigating an abandoned vehicle on Medical Center Parkway, which had a stolen gun, cell phones and cell phone parts inside.

Officer Jessica Rice reports seeing the vehicle on Medical Center, near Honeylocust, just after 9 Friday night. When she first saw the vehicle, there was a male in the driver's seat and a female trying to get inside the car. But by the time the officer got back to the vehicle, it was abandoned.

When doing an inventory of the vehicle, three empty gun holsters, one 9mm black Ruger and several cell phones and cell phone parts were found inside. There were also tools used to break down cell phones and a couple of safes inside.

After towing the vehicle to the vice building, all of the seized items were entered into property. That's when the gun turned up stolen out of Chattanooga. Metro Nashville Police helped MPD determine the vehicle was rented at the Nashville International Airport. Budget Rental reported it to have been stolen back on May 31st. It was registered to an Ashlee Hobbf from Chattanooga.
