This community's history would not be complete without the service of Military People of Color. On Sunday afternoon, April 27, 2014, Linebaugh Library is hosting the second “HEROES IN OUR MIDST” program in the Patterson Community Center theatre.

Each year, the month of February is celebrated as Black History Month, yet, black history is made every day. Now the entire Linebaugh Library System comes together to honor those who have stood tall, making life better for us all. Many of these people are far away and/or remain untouchable.

But as of today, too many of our young people are not aware of the legends, or those who have left legacies, within our own backyard.

This year Linebaugh is also spotlighting the Fire Personnel legends of color from Murfreesboro. Some are friends and neighbors that many of us may not know or may never have met. This is your opportunity!

This program will be held from 1:30pm to 4pm; in the Patterson Park Community Center Theater. It is a chance for our young people (ages 8 and up) to ask questions of the Veterans and other service people who have added to their personal history. Our youth can learn how our community Military and Fire Personnel Heroes added to hometown history while faithfully serving our community and country.
