HIGHLIGHTED CASE: Shoplifting in Rutherford County

Over the next couple of weeks, WGNS will highlight new shoplifting cases on a daily basis as the problem does seem to be growing. This most recent scenario unfolded at Sears in Murfreesboro.

A heavy set female wearing spandex and large sunglasses was observed taking a Polo shirt into the dressing room and exiting with the new Polo shirt in a bag. The loss prevention officer was fairly certain that no one rang her up for the merchandise in the dressing room because most cashiers are stationed at the front door and not in the changing area, so he followed her to the parking lot. Once at her vehicle the woman saw the loss prevention worker and allegedly ignored him and jumped in her car and fled the scene.

In the process of pulling out of a parking space, the female was in such a hurry that she likely failed to notice the car she hit. Police were called to the scene, but the woman left before they arrived.

At this point, she has not been tracked down. She got away with over $200 in clothing.
