Kathy Tyson, the spokesperson for the City of LaVergne, told WGNS:

It was a home invasion type situation. Two victims were transported to Vanderbilt - one emergency, one non-emergency. Victims were related, but not saying how just yet. One had gunshot wound & other to be determined. Police are searching for at least 2 suspects. Chief Walker asks residents to not answer the door if someone they don't know knocks... call police. As always, keep all doors locked.

Tyson further suggested that Police Chief Mike Walker said they don't have good descriptions of the suspects because it was dark but one may have been Hispanic.
