Murfreesboro Police went to the scene of a "burglary in progress" call at 540 New Salem Highway, near the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday morning. In fact, the address is only about 300-feet away from the Sheriff's Office.

Regardless of the proximity to law enforcement, the brazen burglary suspect made his way into the secured business and allegedly attempted to steal a pot of freshly made coffee from the inside of a security office at Ferguson's Supply. Murfreesboro Police say when they questioned 47-year old George Simpson, Jr., he refused to tell them where he was born, only to say that he was currently homeless.

Simpson was found to be in possession of a "City of LaVergne" credit card when he was taken into custody. He was charged with Burglary and two counts of theft under $500. He was then placed under a $4,500 bond. He will face the charges in court on April 14, 2015.
