Horse Meat Slaughter Houses Soon to be Legal

Horse, it’s what’s for dinner. Congress has lifted a five year ban on funding horse meat inspections which means that horse meat could be on the American market in as little as one month. The USDA said on Tuesday there are currently no horse slaughterhouses in the U.S., but if one were to open, it would be held to federal inspection laws just as other slaughter houses are required to undergo inspections.

On a side note, horse meat for human consumption is against state law in Illinois and California.

I've actually had horse meat when in France. It was on a school trip and our teacher didn't tell us what it was till we all tried it. It was very good. It is kind of sweet and very different from any other meat.
