In the Future: Less Wait Time at DMV Office

Need to renew your license, but dread the wait at the local Department of Motor Vehicles office?  Well, here is some good news… For several years now you have been able to renew your license on line, but if you need a new picture taken, you have to visit the DMV in person. The long lines may soon be a thing of the past. Not yet, but soon. A major computer upgrade at the DMV office will allow for individual kiosk in the office where you can apply for a license, or renew your license without having to talk with a DMV employee. The Tennessee Department of Motor Vehicles serves more than 2 million people each year. Before the kiosk can be installed at DMV offices across the state, the governor must approve the spending increase to cover the cost of the new computer systems.
