As motorists travel Broad as well as the Old Fort Parkway and Memorial, they are asking themselves: "Is it time I use my alternate route"?

For the next couple of years, the bridge over troubled Broad will be taking shape. So developing an alternate route of travel in this area is a smart move now, and will become a  necessity in the future. 

Remember about 20 or so years ago, the Chamber had a visual study done on projects that would improve our community. The analyst kept saying, "Hide the power lines".

I was amazed at how the utility lines stood out like a sore thumb in pictures, but locals were used to them and did not notice them while driving down the road.

He said underground utility lines would dramatically improve this community. 

Well, the Broad Street bridge project is eliminating above ground utilities. 

And now, road work is in full swing. Traffic will become more of a challenge each day. You might want to get in the habit of taking that alternate route.
