John Hood Honored for City Schools Foundation

The honorable John Hood, former member of the Murfreesboro City School Board and the Tennessee School Board Association, State Representative, and WGNS alumni was honored at the 5th annual gala event for the City Schools Foundation, held at the Stones River Country Club Friday night.  Guest "roasters" Ed Barlow, Lana Seivers, Bob Mifflin, and Dan Whittle recounted their personal stories of John's character and career, and peers couldn't stop singing Hood's praises.  An auction for five luxurious prize packages helped raise even more money for the foundation, which will go, in part, to Scales Elementary.  In reference to his own service over the years, perhaps Hood said it best in his own speech, in which he eloquently stated that "public service is the rent we pay for the space we occupy here on Earth", and he's simply trying to keep up the bill.
