Someone at Walmart on Old Fort Parkway called the police early Thursday morning after finding a woman who appeared to be asleep in the parking lot. Just to clear up any doubt you may have, the woman was not asleep in a car, she was instead asleep on the asphalt. Not that a body lying in a parking space would not cause a scene, but a woman lying in an expectant mother parking space stands out even more.

When police arrived at the store they found the 52-year old female lying down exactly where the caller told dispatch… in expectant mother parking. The woman told police she was just released from St. Thomas Rutherford. That didn’t really clear up the many questions shoppers and officers probably had for her, but it did lead to her arrest. The woman had what was described as, “the odor of an intoxicant.” The sleepy woman was also unsteady on her feet and had slurred speech.

Instead of hitching a ride back to the hospital, the local resident was taken to the county jail where she was booked under a Public Intoxication charge.
