More school students are refusing to go to school in Rutherford County when compared to truancy issues in the past. Judge Donna Scott Davenport told us this has led her to come down hard on parents refusing to follow laws dealing with education. She said that kids have to be educated in order to be prepared for their future.

A parent who willfully allows their children to miss school can be jailed and fined $50 per day for each day the parent enabled the student to remain out of school.
