Knights Inn Man Charged with Extortion & False Imprisonment

A 62-year old man who lives at Knights Inn is charged with trying to extort a member of the cleaning staff out of 500-dollars and allegedly held him inside his room.

Murfreesboro Police Officer Walter Breithaupt arrived at the hotel on South Church Street around 10:30 Friday morning.

The victim reported he went to the room to clean and was asked to come inside by Keith Vandecastle. That's when the victim reports being told to sit, questioned and call the front desk for 500-dollars.

The victim said he feared for his life and didn't feel like he could have left the room. So, the officer arrested Vandecastle on charges of extortion and false imprisonment. He will face the charges in court on December 7th.
