A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Rutherford County and most of Middle Tennessee from Wednesday at noon until Thursday at noon. 3-6" of snow/sleet and up to a 1/10" of ice is possible.
A Lascassas man accused of raping a preschool girl on several occasions was convicted this week in a Rutherford County Courtroom.
48-Year old Defendant Mark Tracy Looney of Valley View Road, was convicted on two counts of child abuse and four counts of “rape of a child.”
In a previous report, WGNS reported that we were told by the Sheriff’s Office that Looney was accused of raping the girl, then telling her not to tell anyone or he would go to jail. Detective Lisa McCallum reported that the victim’s behavior showed she feared Looney. When the child was raped, she was only 5-years of age.
“She waited several months before she disclosed the sexual contact,” McCallum said. “She told her parents that she did not want to see Tracy anymore.” Detective McCallum was with the Family Crimes Unit in 2012 at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
Despite the conviction on the rape charges, he has not yet been sentenced.
