LaVergne resident Jason Cole has announced that he will seek the office of Alderman for the City of LaVergne in the November 8, 2016 election.

Cole, who has served on La Vergne's Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee, Greenways Advisory Board and Beer Board, said he is a fiscally conservative candidate focused on providing a healthy environment for small-business growth, safe neighborhoods and continuing to improve police and emergency services for the community.

"We need to ensure that LaVergne is a thriving city where people want to live, work and play," Cole said. "We must exercise fiscal responsibility if we want businesses and people to locate and invest in LaVergne." Cole will work diligently to maximize efficiency within city departments.

During his time on the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee, Cole has assisted with multiple community events such as the July 4th Celebration, the Easter Egg Hunt and Old Timer's Festival. He has spearheaded the development of the La Vergne Farmer's Market and worked on the initial phase of the Veteran's Wall.

"I believe my forward-thinking abilities and servant leadership skills will be an asset to me as Alderman," Cole said. "The residents want a representative who will listen, research the facts and represent them--and that is who I plan to be. "Cole was previously a finalist for a Ruthie award for his volunteer activities. "Volunteering and giving back to the community are important to me.

Cole is now in his fourteenth year of working in the healthcare industry. "I've been working with the elderly and indigent, helping them to get medical supplies and medications that they really have a difficult time getting on their own. It's such a blessing to be able to see people's face and hear their voice when they thought there was no way to get these and you show them how."

He and his wife, Bridget Cole, have been married for ten years. They have two children, and Jason and his family attend Covenant Baptist Church where Jason serves as a Yokefellow working with the church deacons.
