Several popular Husqvarna lawn mower brands are being recalled due to a control bar malfunction that could pose a laceration hazard to the operator.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice, about 235,000 Husqvarna, Poulan Pro, Jonsered, Craftsman, Yardworks, Murray, and Brute walk-behind gas powered mowers with the Briggs & Stratton 7.25 engines are affected.
Husqvarna says the operator control bar can malfunction, causing the engine blades to continue to operate when they should shut off. So far, there have been 53 reports of the engine not shutting off after the control bar is released. No injuries have been reported. The mowers were sold at Lowe's, Sears, and other dealers nationwide from November 2015 through August 2016 for between $250 and $450.
Owners of these mowers should stop using the equipment and contact Husqvarna to determine if your mower needs a repair. Call Husqvarna toll-free at 877-257-6921 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email at recalls@husqvarna.com.
