Business licenses must be renewed by April 15," says Rutherford County Clerk Lisa Duke Crowell.

"Tennessee's Department of Revenue, since placing a majority of business license holders on a calendar year renewal basis, the state will not send a renewal notice to you," Crowell stated. "In fact, I urge business licensees to familiarize themselves with the Department of Revenue's website as you must now renew online."

"State government is working hard to streamline the renewal process for business owners," stated Crowell, "and the Clerk's office wants to help you navigate this new way of doing business."

The Clerk and her staff will direct business licensees to get in touch with Revenue through these channels:

Crowell reminds citizens her office can initiate new business licenses but cannot renew licenses or collect taxes for the Department of Revenue. Crowell added that she "looks forward to being of assistance to all citizens."
