October is "National Bullying Prevention Month". Sadly, there are several students in Rutherford County who take their lives each year, often as a result of being bullied. Bill Taylor, owner of the Bill Taylor Bushido School of Karate, has created "Bully Buster Seminars". He says while bullying has been going on since the dawn of time, the labeling has changed in recent years...

A Yale University study shows that bully victims are two-to-nine times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims.

Taylor shows youth who are victims of bullying certain things to do that will help in situations of this type. He also encourages parents to keep a log with dates, times and topics that will document the situation. This will help if your child becomes a part of the school system's "Zero Tolerance" rules dealing with fights.

If you have questions, phone Bill Taylor at 615-893-6003 or 615-890-6755. He also gave his personal e-mail out on the radio, encouraging parent's of victims to not wait and to contact him: bushido96@aol.com.
