October is "National Bullying Prevention Month". Sadly, there are several students in Rutherford County who take their lives each year, often as a result of being bullied. Bill Taylor, owner of the Bill Taylor Bushido School of Karate, has created "Bully Buster Seminars". A Yale University study shows that bully victims are two-to-nine times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims.

Taylor shows youth who are victims of bullying certain things to do that will help in situations of this type. He also encourages parents to keep a log with dates, times and topics that will document the situation. This will help if your child becomes a part of the school system's "Zero Tolerance" rules dealing with fights.
