As the heat index rises, make sure you check on loved ones. Concerned resident Dwight Ogleton commented...

 

The heat index over the next several days will reach 105-degrees in Rutherford County.

Hazardous Weather Outlook below from the National Weather Service:

AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL BRING HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY LEVELS TO MIDDLE TENNESSEE TODAY. HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL TOP OUT IN THE 97-101 RANGE THIS AFTERNOON WEST OF THE PLATEAU. FRIDAY (8/22/14) THROUGH WEDNESDAY (8/27/14): HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE FROM FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY. HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL TOP OUT IN THE 100-105 RANGE EACH AFTERNOON WEST OF THE PLATEAU.
