Murfreesboro Police responded to the Campus Villa Apartments on Greenland Drive in reference to a domestic situation that was reported. Once on the scene officers found the subject that someone phoned the police about getting into an SUV to leave. Officers say that dispatch received a call from a female who was short of breath who stated that she didn't know when "he" would return.

When police approached the man who later became the suspect, Jerry Groves was said to have fled the scene with a female at a "rapid pace." The officer quickly followed the Tahoe and activated his emergency equipment. The report stated, "The vehicle accelerated quickly passing the posted speed limit sign of 30 miles per hour. I attempted to catch up to stop the vehicle. The Tahoe turned right onto Boston Avenue and accelerated again." The Tahoe eventually came to a stop and a second police officer arrived and ordered Groves to get out of the SUV.

When police talked to Groves he was charged with evading police in a motor vehicle. The report stated, "Mr. Groves admitted that he was trying to elude my presence because of the domestic and not having a driver's license." It was confirmed that he had a revoked driver's license for failing to pay child support. As for the alleged domestic violence report that was initially phoned in to Murfreesboro dispatch, there was no physical evidence of abuse to pursue further charges.

39-Year old Groves will appear in court on September 29, 2015 to face "Evading" charges and charges for "Driving on a Revoked License."
