The man accused of robbing the homeless this past March in Murfreesboro has been released from jail after making bond. 45-Year old James Harrell Climer was arrested in March after he allegedly robbed Lori Rutledge and Charles Beavers who are both homeless. Climer reportedly stole $22 from the two in the area of South Church Street.

The report shows that Rutledge accused Climer of kicking her in the face while she was sleeping in a wooded area. Beavers was said to be sleeping nearby. Beavers was awakened with Climer punching him in the head, according to an incident report.

After the brief assault, Rutledge and Beavers told police that Climer took off running. Police were called and the two victims were transported to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital where they were treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.

Climer was eventually located and transported to the Murfreesboro Police Department for questioning. During the interview, "Climer stated he wasn't aware if he had robbed Ms. Rutledge because he was too drunk." A man who was at a gas station near the site of the robbery told police, "Mr. Climer stated he thought Ms. Rutledge had money on her and that he was going to steal it because he wanted Whiskey."

Climer was charged with Aggravated Robbery, Theft under $500 and two counts of Simple Assault. Climer is scheduled to face the charges in court on April 30, 2015.
