In June of 2015, Murfreesboro Police officers responded to an ambulance assist call at 915 Harrison Ave. in reference to an unresponsive male. After arriving at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, medical staff notified officers of the extent of the injuries to the victim, identified as Dennis Kado. Mr. Kado was transferred to Saint Thomas West in Nashville where he later died from his injuries on June 4, 2015. The Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined the death to be a homicide resulting from blunt force trauma.

The complainant on the incident was Mr. Dennis Kado's son, Jacob Kado. During the course of the investigation Jacob Kado was developed as a suspect in his father's homicide. Jacob Kado was interviewed by police and provided investigators with information implicating himself in the death.

Based on the evidence and information from the interview, MPD Detective James Abbott was able to obtain a warrant for Second Degree Murder and serve Kado at the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.
