Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. Man Charged With Attempted Murder of a Child

A 35-year old Murfreesboro man is facing attempted second degree murder charges and charges of attempted aggravated child abuse after allegedly trying to break a baby’s neck. The incident occurred in the Middle Tennessee Medical Center parking lot this past November. Police had to wrestle the baby away from Glen Climer II in order to get the child to a safe location. A blood test on Climer proved that he had allegedly been using methamphetamines prior to his apprehension. Climer was indicted by a Grand Jury this month and will appear in circuit court on January 17^th. The Twin Oaks Drive man is being held under a $100-thousand dollar bond.
