Man charged with Promoting Prostitution and Promoting travel for Prostitution

A 26-year old man out of Memphis, Tennessee has been arrested in Murfreesboro on "Promotion of Prostitution" charges. Sonny Wallace Johnson was apprehended during an investigation into prostitution related ads on Backpage.com.

Police showed up at 148 Chaffin Place in Murfreesboro and eventually went to the motel room in question. They determined that Johnson had allegedly rented the room and was seen in the room with two females. One of the females was thought to be a prostitute.

Police then took a look at the phone of one of the women who was seen in the motel room. In the phone, officers say they found "Numerous Johns or Sex Hobbyist names / phone numbers with texts messages were also discovered on it and being investigated by MPD." Police also discovered a gallon size ziplock bag filled with condoms.

Johnson, who reportedly traveled to Murfreesboro with alleged prostitutes or a prostitute, was also charged with "Promoting travel for Prostitution," Driving on a Suspended License" and "Filing a False Report." Officers have the phone numbers and names of possible customers of a prostitute from the phone in their possession at this time.

The Memphis resident will be in court on May 5, 2015. He is currently behind bars.
