A Shelbyville man with a total of 40-past traffic violations under his belt was apprehended in Murfreesboro on Monday and charged with yet another traffic infraction. Keith Edward Lee was arrested and charged with “Driving on a Revoked License” for the 9th time.  Lee was apprehended in Murfreesboro after he was allegedly involved in a minor accident. Lee told police he accidentally struck another car while changing lanes on Southeast Broad Street. To make matters worse, the subject did not have insurance. Keep in mind this latest charge was traffic violation number 40. Some of his past actions include not only driving on revoked charges, but also two DUI arrests.  Lee was handcuffed and transported to the Adult Detention Center.

The question we often receive at the station after we run such stories, “What happens to someone arrested for driving on a revoked license?”

The first offense is listed by the state as a Class B Misdemeanor punishable by up to six months behind bars and a fine not to exceed $500. The second time such an arrest is made, if the accused is found guilty in a court of law, that Class B Misdemeanor turns into a Class A Misdemeanor. That second, third or even tenth offense is punishable by up to eleven months and twenty-nine days in jail. The offenders license can also be - - REVOKED, again.

In this most recent case, Lee was booked under a $1,000 bond and later released the same day. He will appear in court on July 16, 2013.
