Man Indicted for Attempted 1st Degree Murder

A Rutherford County Grand Jury has indicted 29-year old Edrick Smith from LaVergne for the shooting that occurred on Hanover Street October 14th. The shooting occurred at the Hanover Apartments. Reports indicate two females who were sitting in a car with a 6-year old child in the backseat outside the apartments were allegedly shot by Smith. The child was not injured, but the women suffered critical injuries as a result of being shot and were taken by LifeFlight helicopter to the Trauma Center at Vanderbilt. The two women, 40-year old Muriel Glimps and 31-year old Lokesial Sanders did survive the shooting and are doing much better today.  Detective Michael Yates presented the case to the grand jury and Smith was indicted  on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, possession of a weapon by a felon, reckless endangerment with a weapon, especially aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit attempted first-degree murder. Smith has been jailed since October 21st.
