WGNS was apparently not the only place that received phone calls on Friday afternoon about a man wearing a Scream mask and a poncho. Sound strange? Police were called to Memorial Boulevard on Friday afternoon around 3:15 after motorist spotted a man with his face painted black wearing a Scream mask on the back of his head. The man was also wearing a yellow poncho covered in writing.

At first the man was standing across the street from Middle Tennessee Christian School as parents picked their children up. The subject later walked down the street to the intersection of Northfiled at Memorial Boulevard. It was there that police pulled up to question the suspicious male. The man could not be held for any wrong doing because he was simply standing, waiving and talking to passing cars. However, the outfit the man was wearing along with the mask, had some motorist on the edge.

Witnesses say the man had writing all over his yellow poncho. Keep in mind, no rain was in the forecast on Friday so the poncho appeared somewhat out of place. Then there was the painted face. That too looked a bit odd as he walked past a local bank across the street from MTCS. Going back to the poncho, it had everything from “Truman Jones” and “Sheriff Robert Arnold” written on it to things like “Jesus” and “Free Water, but it is Toxic.”

Other items written on the poncho:

  • “You can’t have any puddin’ until you bring those grades up.”
  • “This is Indian Israel! Not American Judah. I’m Indian, German, Jew – WATCH YOUR STEP!”
  • “Egg nog or custards last stand”
